Description
English: There is no grating here. Instead, a solid wrought iron ash-plate joins a pair of wrought iron andirons. This assemblage is joined to the cast iron fire-back — which has cracked. Evenly spaced holes in the half-circle (which also has a poor surface finish), may indicate that its owner once had his armorial plaque fixed here. The tall vertical guards (which aim to prevent burning logs rolling out into the room) are richly ornamented and claw footed in polished brass. Resent years of disuse has allowed a mellow patina to form on them. Situated in the State Drawing Room of Boston Manor House, Boston Manor Road, Brentford, TW8 9JX. United Kingdom. Tel: +44 020 8583 4463. Building currently own by the London Borough of Hounslow.
