Etymology[edit]
From δωδεκάθε(ο) (dodekáthe(o), “the twelve gods”) + -ισμός (-ismós, “-ism”). An earlier form, δωδεκαθεΐα (dodekatheḯa), is attested in 1830.[1][2]
