Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Technical word in -ανος. According to Persson, it is from Proto-Indo-European *dʰudʰ-ih₂, the same root of Latvian duša (bundle of straw). However, the variation shown in θυσανόεις (thusanóeis)/θυσσανόεις (thussanóeis) rather points to a Pre-Greek origin.
