Bashkir[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Cognate with Tatar көнкүреш (könküreş, daily life), Kazakh күнкөріс (künkörıs, living conditions).

Derived from the collocation көн күреү (kön kürew, to live; to experience life day after day).

The semantic field, especially the adjective meanings, appears to have been influenced by the Russian terms быт (byt) and бытовой (bytovoj).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): [kʏ̞n.kɵ.ˈrɪ̞ʃ]
  • Hyphenation: көн‧кү‧реш

Noun[edit]

көнкүреш (könküreş)

  1. daily life; life as it is experienced on a day-to-day basis, seen as a total of routine activities, especially at and around one's home

Xəźer dumbıra xalıq könküreşendə hirək osray - unı mandolina almaştırğan.
These days, dumbyra rarely occurs in the folk's (=Bashkirs') everyday life - it has been replaced by mandolina.
