Etymology[edit]

Ultimately from New Latin anachronismus, from Ancient Greek ἀναχρονισμός (anakhronismós), from ἀναχρονίζομαι (anakhronízomai, referring to the wrong time), from ἀνά (aná, up against) +‎ χρονίζω (khronízō, spending time), which from χρόνος (khrónos, time).
