Likely borrowed from Ukrainian гурто́м (hurtóm, jointly, together), which see спі́льно (spílʹno). Related to Polish hurt ((n.) wholesale), hurtowy ((adj.) wholesale), hurtem, and Belarusian гурт (hurt, group).
