Either cognate to or borrowed from German Rosmarin, possibly via Russian розмари́н (rozmarín), from Middle French rosmarin, from Old French rosmarin, ultimately from Latin rōsmarīnus. Compare Luxembourgish Rousemaräin, Polish rozmaryn, Romanian rozmarin.
