From Aramaic כַּוְכְּבָא (kawkəḇā), from Proto-Semitic *kabkab-; compare Classical Syriac ܟܘܟܒܐ (kawkəḇā), Turoyo ܟܘܟܘܐ (kukwo), Arabic كَوْكَب (kawkab), Hebrew כּוֹכָב (kokháv) and Akkadian 𒀯 (kakkabum).
