Etymology[edit]
Ultimately from Prakrit 𑀳𑀢𑁆𑀣𑀺𑀬𑀸𑀭 (hatthiyāra), perhaps via Gujarati હથિયાર (hathiyār), Old Gujarati हथीआर (hathīāra).[1]
