Etymology[edit]

From ი- (i-) +‎ ნჯირ- (ncir-, to sleep) +‎ -ს (-s), Inherited from Proto-Georgian-Zan *ʒ₁in- (to sleep, fall asleep), contamined with the related ნჯირი (nciri).

Usage notes[edit]

  • In Central and Eastern dialects, one verb is used for the "to lie" and "to sleep", but in Western dialects, these two meanings expressed with two verb: დიჯინენ (dicinen, to lie) and ინჯირს (incirs, to sleep).
