Etymology

Apparently borrowed from Thai ทูต (tûut), from Sanskrit दूत (dūta, envoy; messenger; ambassador) or synonymous Pali dūta. Cognate with Khmer ទូត (tuut), Lao ທູດ (thūt). Doublet of ᨴᩩᨲ᩠ᨲ
