Etymology[edit]
First attested in 1951. Borrowed from Ukrainian банде́рівець (bandérivecʹ) + -ite, from the surname of Stepan Bandera, a Ukrainian nationalist leader. Compare Russian банде́ровец (bandɛ́rovec).
