Etymology[edit]

From Kenia (Kenya) +‎ Koalition (coalition), from the colors of the Kenyan flag, which correspond to the colors of the three parties (black for the CDU, red for the SPD, green for the Greens). Modelled after the earlier term Jamaika-Koalition.
