Etymology[edit]
Attested as die Clyngelbeeck in 1538. Etymology uncertain. Perhaps a compound derived from klingelen (“tinkle”) (after the sound of the rushing water) and beek (“brook, creek”). A second etymology interprets the first element as kling (“height, hill”).
