From the use of Partei (party) as a proper noun for the ruling party in a one-party system, especially the Nazi NSDAP and the Communist SED. Humorously acronymized as Partei für Arbeit, Rechtsstaat, Tierschutz, Elitenförderung und basisdemokratische Initiative (Party for labour, rule of law, animal protection, elite advancement, and grass-root democratic initiative).
