Nonsense etymology[edit]

I know Quora isn't a reliable source on its own but this is obviously far more correct than what we have here, the nonsense idea that a 10th century Arabic name for a Byzantine ally came from Latin and German instead of Byzantine Greek. Is there any justification at all? or just the idea that they look kinda similar because the German derived from the same Venetian and Byz Greek words the Arabs were hearing? — LlywelynII 02:14, 31 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
