@AryamanA It's interesting you think so. From the form of the Persian word, I would guess that the ultimate Arabic etymon is سَلِيقَة (salīqa). Wiktionary doesn't have an article for سَلِيقَة, but it is listed as a translation for the English word instinct. WordReference [1] also says it that means 'instinct'. So I would guess that 'instinct (nature/disposition/intuition)' is the original or primary definition, and that the definitions of '(innate) way/order', '(good or polite) behaviour/manners/ethics/treatment', 'merit/talent/taste/elegance' are all various manifestations of that original or primary definition. 'Instinct' is a complicated idea so perhaps these are all different ways if interpreting it. Kutchkutch (talk) 10:56, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
