Etymology[edit]

Johnson[edit]

It's intuitively obvious that "Johnson" means "Son of John", and many resources I've seen mention it, but only a few have done some really nice research into it. Unfortunately, I didn't save any of the references I have. I'd be very happy if anyone else finds them if you'd add them in. I know they're out there. --Ron Johnson 04:05, 19 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

John[edit]

Does anyone know non-biblical sources that date back to the same era for the etymology of John? If so, it'd be great to cite non-biblical sources for the definitions, meaning, word variations, etc. Having said that, many thanks to User:Dubaduba for the great work on gettings strongs entries here at Wiktionary started. --Ron Johnson 04:05, 19 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
