Autistic spectrum[edit]

I saw scattered uses of a-spec to mean "autism spectrum" in the wild c. 2010-2013. The trouble is that many posts on LiveJournal, Tumblr, Reddit, etc. have since disappeared into the ether. I don't think it's a clear-cut case of a manufactroversy. I think it's an example of two marginalised communities independently developing overlapping terminology and subsequently becoming a bit protective of it as they try to make their voices heard. The added qualification seems fine, and is supported by the sources. WordyAndNerdy (talk) 20:13, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I believe I saw a fairly recent use of the term a-spec that did indeed seem to refer to the autism spectrum rather than the asexual and aromantic spectra, but can't remember exactly where (it might have been on the title of a book or something). I'll have to go looking for it again... Adam9007 (talk) 22:04, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Found it: here. Unless there's something I'm missing, this seems to be a use of the term to refer to the autism spectrum, not the asexual or aromantic spectra. Adam9007 (talk) 22:39, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
