The portuguese word 'macaco' is the translation of 'monkey'. I think that the translation for 'ape' is 'gorila', but I'm not quite shure. Fredmaranhao 00:00, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Well, ape includes gorillas, orangutans and chimpanzees. They are a kind of monkeys in my language and also in German. It may help. --Ferike333 19:54, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually, I believe that monkeys are a kind of ape. Or just a kind of primate, I'm not sure if monkeys are categorized under or alongside apes. This is from w:Monkey: "All primates that are not prosimians (lemurs and tarsiers) or apes are monkeys." — [ R·I·C ] opiaterein20:15, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
(a little more) in the Wikipedia category structure, Category:Apes and Category:Monkeys are listed under the parent Category:Primates, so I think that they're more like cousins or something. Apes, Primates and Prosimians. — [ R·I·C ] opiaterein20:17, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
