No such word as asparaguses. It is rendered as "spears of asparagus."

If you look around in published books, you'll find that both forms are in use. The plural is used more often to refer to multiple varieties rather than multiple spears. And there are uses such as in this quote:
  • 1917, Royal Dixon & Franklyn Everett Fitch, The Human Side of Trees, page 91
    The calamites were sort of immense asparaguses and related to our modern ferns known as horse-tails (equisetum).
So, it is incorrect to say there is "no such word", since it does exist and can be easily attested in publications. --EncycloPetey 02:31, 17 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
