Analogous to the verb sense, John Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) has batter defined as "wear and tear", noting that "can't stand the batter" means something was not equal to the task. Hard to find usage. Equinox ◑ 23:26, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
