Etymology[edit]
Although the given etymology is what one would expect, its root is much older than Celtic being remotely akin to Basque HARRA (stone) and is of Pre-Celtic origin. It is still possible that the Proto-Celtic form did exist, but as being borrowed from a substrate Silurian or other native origin.
