Modern usage[edit]

"A person who has a high degree of recognition..." Please. Modern usage is anyone who has ever appeared on mass media. ̴̴--Jonathan Webley (talk) 08:47, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

"Anyone who has ever appeared on mass media" doesn't work well as a definition. But "high degree of recognition" is still valid for TV celebrities, no? – Jberkel 12:42, 5 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
It's the "high degree". I don't recognise most so-called celebrities. Just because you were on two episodes of a reality show doesn't give you a "high degree of recognition". We need to express that the word "celebrity" (like "star", etc.) has become devalued over time. Jonathan Webley (talk) 07:53, 17 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
