knit[edit]

Basic knit stitch, often abbreviated kX where X is the number of knit stitches to do in a row.

purl[edit]

Basic purl stitch, often abbreviated pX where X is the number of purl stitches to do in a row.

sl[edit]

Slip; slip the next stitch knitwise.

k1-b[edit]

Knit through the back of the loop.

yo[edit]

Yarn-over; wrap the yarn over the needle. An increase stitch.

ssk[edit]

Slip-slip-knit; slip stitch knitwise, slip stitch knitwise, insert left needle into front of the two slipped stitches and knit together. A decrease stitch.

k2 tog[edit]

Knit 2 together; pass right needle through two stitches knitwise, knit together. A decrease stitch.

k3 tog[edit]

Knit 3 together; pass right needle through three stitches knitwise, knit together. A decrease stitch.

sl 1—k2 tog—psso[edit]

Slip one, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over; slip stitch knitwise, knit next two stitches together, pass the slipped stitch over the new knit stitch. A decrease stitch.

LT[edit]

Left twist; with right needle behind left, skip on stitch and knit the second stitch through the back, the pass right needle through back of both stitches (skipped and second stitch) and knit together (k2 tog-b).

RT[edit]

Right twist; k2 tog, leaving stitches on left needle, then knit first stitch again by itself.
