I think there should be distinction made between Asian-style (savoury) dumplings and Western-style (sweet dumplings). I think most languages - especially Asian ones - would have completely different translations for those two. Tooironic 07:50, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm western (from Australia) and the only western-style dumplings I know are savoury. I can't remember tasting any kind of western-style sweet dumpling. I certainly haven't tried every food known as dumplings. — hippietrail (talk) 07:28, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Actually I must correct myself! I had forgotten but in fact as a child I used to often eat dumplings for dessert in golden syrup. This kind of dumpling dessert is easy to Google too. — hippietrail (talk) 15:41, 10 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
