female genital cutting[edit]

On one hand, Talk:female genital mutilation somehow passed. On the other hand, some of the arguments protecting that don't refer here. And this is rather ridiculous. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 13:45, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Keep, of course. There is nothing ridiculous about it, this is a specific set term which is widely used in the literature. Needless to say it does not apply to any old "cutting", but to a specific cultural tradition. Ƿidsiþ 14:43, 26 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
How many any old cuttings of the female genitals are there? Mglovesfun (talk) 00:23, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Any legitimate surgical procedure performed on female genitalia could be considered a form of "cutting:" episiotomy, labiaplasty, various forms of female-to-male sex reassignment surgery. The use of cutting in this phrase is narrow and restrictive. Strong keep. Astral (talk) 01:12, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Keep per Astral. DAVilla 23:14, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
