Pronunciation[edit]

Are there speakers for whom this word rhymes with caulk instead of with cock? I'm only familiar with it rhyming with cock (reflecting the ety), so I'm wondering about the pronunciation /ɡɔk/ we list. I see it's from this edit which specifically changed it from having the cock vowel to having the caulk vowel. (Checking for examples on YouTube they all seem to rhyme it with cock except one video where someone has the [presumably unrelated] surname Gock and does rhyme that with caulk instead.) - -sche (discuss) 04:40, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
