It's interesting that almost all common words for "talk"/"speak" in Mainland Scandinavian are /directly or by extension) borrowed from Middle Low German, (tala/e, prata/e, snac/kka/e and språka) the native Swedish words "kväda" and "mäla" are both extremely rare/archaic/poetic. Spoke too soon, "tala/e" is native, although probably affected by similar MLG forms, as well. Wakuran 23:45, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
