Talk:ride shotgun

The person riding guard on a stagecoach in the American West during the nineteenth century rode to the stagecoach driver's right side. The most common weapon was the shotgun loaded with buckshot because of the difficulty in aiming from the seat (high up and all the way forward where the motion is greatest).
