Etymology

Learned borrowing from Prakrit or the Sanskrit equivalent अकल्प्य (akalpya), from अ- (a-, not) + कल्प्य (kalpya, [what ought] to be performed), gerundive of the root कॢप् (kḷp, to perform; to arrange; to prepare). Cognate to Pali akappiya.
