  1. damage (harm done to an object or objects, or more rarely to a person)
  2. a shame, a pity
    • 1488, Jean Dupré, Lancelot du Lac, page 40:
      Car ce seroit trop grant dommaige que vous mouriciez mesmement en si vil lieu comme ceulx de ceans vous ont mis.
      It would be too much of a shame if you died in such a vile place such as the one that they've put you here in.
