Tagalog[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Theorized as the root form of panaginip, as attested in Vocabulario de lengua tagala (1613) and Vocabulario de la lengua tagala (1860), but etymological evidence suggests a different root, *inip from Proto-Austronesian *qinəp (lie down to sleep), for panaginip.

Pronunciation[edit]

ginip (Baybayin spelling ᜄᜒᜈᜒᜉ᜔) (obsolete)
