From Latin misceō (mix) + genus (race). Backformation of miscegenation.

miscegenate (third-person singular simple present miscegenates, present participle miscegenating, simple past and past participle miscegenated)

  1. To mix or blend.
  2. To mix or blend races in marriage, or in breeding.
