Noun[edit]

superquintessence (uncountable)

  1. (rare, physics, cosmology) Phantom energy, cosmic exotic matter, and a likely explanation for dark energy itself, which can violate all energy conditions; a substance that both transcends and sustains the very quintessence itself, as well as the four elements.
    • 1910, Hermetic medicine and hermetic philosophy[1], Pacific Section, American Association of Petroleum Geologist, page 340:
The second is ascribed to the Magnalia, the third is out of its own specifics. Indeed, the superquintessence sustains the quintessence itself as well as the other four.
    • 2005, Mathematical Reviews, Part 1000[2], American Mathematical Society, page 11639:
The wormhole is modeled by a thin sphercial shell accreting the superquintessence fluid, --- two different models are presented.
    • 2011 June 16, “If wormholes existed, what would happen if you tried to push one end through the other?”, in reddit.com[3]:
It has not been entirely ruled out that the acceleration (discovered in 1998) in the expansion of the universe could be due in part to cosmic exotic matter (called "superquintessence"). Such matter could support cosmic wormholes.
