Probably from Proto-Austroasiatic (compare to Proto-Bahnaric *-rok (cow, ox) and Proto-Mon-Khmer *ruuk (ox)). Doublet of warak (rhinoceros). (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
