Welsh[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From ymryson (contention, rivalry) +‎ -gar.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /ˌəmrəˈsɔŋɡar/

Adjective[edit]

ymrysongar (feminine singular ymrysongar, plural ymrysongar, not comparable)

  1. contentious, fractious, quarrelsome
Synonyms: cynhennus, ymrafaelgar, cwerylgar, cecrus, ffraegar

Usage notes[edit]

The ng in ymrysongar is considered to be two separate letters, n and g, and is pronounced /ŋɡ/. As a result, the word appears after ymryson in alphabetical order.
