Dutch[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Middle Dutch solder, solre, from Old Dutch *solari, *soleri, from Latin sōlārium. Cognate with German Söller. The -d- is a late epenthesis and therefore did not cause the development -old- → -oud- (as in goud etc.). Doublet of solarium.
