Vietnamese[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Sino-Vietnamese word from 亞神, composed of (sub-) and (god). The prefix denotes secondariness or lesserness rather than the notion of a demigod as a genealogical "half-god". Japanese 亜神 (ashin, demigod) and Japanese 亜人 (ajin, á nhân, demihuman) are also found in contemporary fantasy.
