From a Vulgar Latin *infasciāre or în + Late Latin fasciāre, present active infinitive of fasciō, from Latin fascia. Compare Aromanian nfash, nfãshari, Italian fasciare, Occitan faissar, French fesser, Portuguese enfaixar, Spanish fajar, Friulian infassâ, Venetian infasar, Istriot infasà, Sardinian fasciai.
