Lithuanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Pokorny's comparison with šáukštas (spoon), presumably both as derivatives of šáuti (shoot; poke in a fire) seems semantically far-fetched and doesn't account for the palatalisation of š.

Noun[edit]
