1. The twenty-third letter of the Romanian alphabet, called șe or șî and written in the Latin script.

Usage notes

Because earlier computer codes did not include Ș, it was typed as Ş (S with a cedilla) until Unicode 3 and Windows XP became mainstream in the mid-2000s.
