From Byzantine Greek Πασχαλία (Paskhalía) with synizesis /-lˈia/ to /-ˈʎa/, from the Koine Greek πασχάλιος (paskhálios, adjective) in the phrase πασχαλία γιορτή (paskhalía giortḗ, “Easter feast”).
