Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek ἐνσταλάζω. For sense instil, semantic loan from French instiller.[1] Also see σταλάσσω (stalássō) and στάζω (stázō). Morphologically, from εν- (in) +‎ σταλάζω (drip).
