Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

According to Bechtel, τόνθων (tónthōn, spinal meat) belongs here as well. Instead, Beekes envisages a connection with τένδω (téndō, to gnaw), in which case the variation θ/δ points to Pre-Greek origin.
