From Proto-Turkic *bēr-i-g (giving, gerund of *bēr-).[1]

Cognate with Tatar бирү (birü), Nogai беруьв (berüv), Kazakh беру (beru), Kyrgyz берүү (berüü), Yakut биэрии (bierii); Turkish ver- (stem); Old Turkic 𐰋𐰃𐰼 (b²ir² /⁠ber-⁠/, stem); Chuvash пар (par, stem); etc.
