From *bezgäk (fever; malaria), from Proto-Turkic *bẹŕ- (to shiver, tremble).[1]

Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (bezgäk, fever, malaria);[2] Kazakh безгек (bezgek, fever, malaria), Uzbek bezgak (fever, malaria).
