Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ōtuŋ (firewood)[1][2] through a variant *ōtug,[3] related to вут (vut, fire).

Cognate with Turkish odun, Uzbek oʻtin and Bashkir утын (utın).
