Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Romanian gîrlă (see gârlă), from Bulgarian гъ́рло (gǎ́rlo),[1] from Proto-Slavic *gъrlo[2] or *gъrdlo. A doublet of го́рло (hórlo).
