Etymology[edit]

Per Vasmer, formed as if from Old East Slavic *настъ (*nastŭ), from на (na) + *стъ, combining form of the Proto-Indo-European root *steh₂-. Compare Old East Slavic обнастывати (obnastyvati, to cover), рознастити (roznastiti, to uncover).
